At the G7 summit in Évian, heads of state and government included the fight against cancer among their shared priorities for the first time. This decision, driven by an initiative from the President of the French Republic, marks a significant milestone in the international effort to struggle this disease, which remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

The French National Cancer Institute welcomes this political breakthrough, which recognises the crucial importance of international scientific and medical cooperation in accelerating progress in prevention, research, innovation and access to care. The shared objective is clear: to reduce cancer-related mortality and improve the life expectancy and quality of life of those affected by the disease.

This joint political declaration reflects a collective commitment to strengthening global efforts to tackle a major public health challenge.
